At the Arkansas chapter of American Ex-prisoners of War, a national organization, at Lonoke, Lonoke County, Arkansas, four Arkansas World War II prisoners of War shared their memories. From left to right, John Baskin of Clarksville, Johnson County, Arkansas, is a survivor of the Bataan "death march;" Adolph. S. (Snick) Bajorek of North Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas, Pat Wheat III, and R.W. Smith of Hughes Springs, Cass County, Texas, all became Japanese prisoners upon the surrender of Corregidor Island and sent to Palawan Island.
